In Dead of Night he played the part of Sylvester Kee the ventriloquist (pictured) who is shot and almost killed by "Maxwell Frere" as a rival for his dummy's affections. In Roman Holiday he played the part of Mr. Hennessy, the chief of the news agency that Gregory Peck worked for.
He appeared as Colonel Sultzman the father of Joan Greenwood’s character in A Girl in A Million in 1946 – this film co-starred Basil Radford and Naunton Wayne who also appeared in Dead of Night.
