His many film appearances include two alongside the Charters and Caldicott character actors – Basil Radford and Naunton Wayne - he played the part of the Pavilion Manager in Girl in a Million 1946 and the Sailor on a Train in Next of Kin 1942.
He starred in many films during his early career including the title role in The Happy Warrior 1917, Deception 1918, Tower of Strength 1919, One Moment’s Temptation 1922, Beautiful Kitty 1923, Men Who Forget 1923, The Ball of Fortune 1926 and Bad Sir Brian Botany 1928.
His many other film credits include The Third String 1932, The Thirty Nine Steps 1935, George Formby’s Trouble Brewing as the brewery foreman, Convoy 1940, Inspector Hornleigh Goes To It 1941 (pictured), The Day Will Dawn 1942, The Life and Death of Colonel Blimp 1943, Loyal Heart 1946, Old Mother Riley’s New Venture 1949 and Seven Days to Noon 1950.
