He appeared in dozens of films during the 1930’s and 1940’s many of them considered classics including The Man Who Knew Too Much 1934, Will Hay’s Boys Will be Boys 1934 and Oh! Mr Porter 1937 – he played the part of the Prison Governor in the first one and the Superintendent in the latter, The Four Just Men 1939, Pimpernel Smith 1941, Meet Me at Dawn 1947, Golden Salamander 1950 and The Happiest Days of Your Life 1950.
In 1949 he appeared alongside Basil Radford and Naunton Wayne in Stop Press Girl – he played the part of the Editor of the Evening Standard (pictured)
He died in 1952.
