Jack May was an English actor who appeared in dozens of classic British films, largely in minor and uncredited roles.  Not to be confused with the other Jack May who appeared in the Archers as Nelson Gabriel and who played the butler in Adam Adamant Lives!  Since I can’t find a birth date for Jack May the bit-part actor I am using the other Jack May’s birthday for the time being which is 23rd April.

Partial filmography

Men Without Honour (1939), The Flying Squad (1940), The Common Touch (1941), The Ghost of St. Michael's (1941), Gert and Daisy's Weekend (1942) as the Old Man Dancing on Tube Station, Thunder Rock (1942) and  The Gentle Sex (1943).
For fans of Charters and Caldicott, he played in Millions Like Us (1943) – he played the uncredited part of The Old Man (pictured - 1).  He also appeared in 1949’s Stop Press Girl where he played the uncredited role of the Newspaper Seller (pictured – 2)

Amongst many other films here are a few more that he appeared in during his very active career; The Lamp Still Burns (1943), A Canterbury Tale (1944), This Happy Breed (1944), the Boat Rental Man in Brief Encounter (1945), Johnny Frenchman (1945), Great Expectations (1946), Captain Boycott (1947), No Room at the Inn (1948), Man on the Run (1949), Landfall (1949), The Blue Lamp (1950), Pool of London (1951), as the man with the Ear Trumpet in 1952’s Time Gentlemen, Please!, Trouble in Store (1953), The Titfield Thunderbolt (1953), The Gay Dog (1954), Three cases of Murder (1955), Checkmate (1955), Reach for the Sky (1956), The Smallest Show on Earth (1957), Blue Murder at St. Trinian's (1957), The Moonraker (1957), A Tale of Two Cities (1958), Gideon's Day (1958) and as Edwards in 1960’s The Professionals.
