Arthur Denton the actor, was born 31st October in 1887 as Arthur James Walter Roote. He was a bit part actor that appeared in many films during the 1930’s and 1940’s.
Films that he appeared in include Girl in the News 1940, Kipps 1941, Will Hay’s The Goose Steps Out in 1942, Waterloo Road 1945, Johnny Frenchman 1945, I See a Dark Stranger 1946 and Hue and Cry 1947.
Four further appearances were alongside the Charters and Caldicott actors Basil Radford and Naunton Wayne. In Night Train To Munich 1940 he played the role as a deck chair attendant (3rd photo), In Millions Like Us 1943 his role was as the soldier Alf polishing the floor (2nd photo) and in 1948’s Quartet where he appeared as a Sergeant in the Kite flying scene on the common. His final appearance with the duo was in 1949's Passport To Pimlico as the customs official (1st photo) – he is only briefly seen in the film and that was a side shot of him as he talks to Margaret Rutherford.
