
He was usually typecast in roles such as an affable dandy, silly ass officers or potty aristocrats.
For Charters and Caldicott fans, he appeared in two films alongside Basil Radford and Naunton Wayne - Crook's Tour 1941 where he appeared in an uncredited minor role and in the Ealing Studios classic Passport To Pimlico 1949 where he played the part of Captain Willow (pictured).
His film appearances include The Man from Toronto 1930, It Happened In Paris 1935, Highland Fling 1936, The Face At The Window 1939, Mail Train 1941, A Voice in the Night 1946, The Red Shoes 1948, Never Look Back 1952, Where There's A Will 1955, Women Without men 1956, The Pure Hell Of St Trinian’s 1960 and The Great St Trinian’s Train Robbery in 1966. His TV appearances include Second Time Around in the mid 60’s and Supergran in the mid 80’s.
He died 24th July 1997.
