One of his earliest films was in the 1937 production of South Riding which also featured Ann Todd. Other films that he appeared in include The Terror 1938, This Man in Paris 1939, The Proud Valley alongside Paul Robeson in 1940, starring as Detective Inspector Shott in Mrs Pym of Scotland Yard 1940, in George Formby’s Spare a Copper 1940, School for Secrets 1946, Captain Boycott 1947, Blanche Fury 1948, Winslow Boy 1948, Night Was Our Friend 1951, Miss Robin Hood 1952, Orders are Orders 1955 as Captain Ledger (photo 1) and The Man who Wouldn’t Talk in 1958.
For Charters and Caldicott fans he appeared twice alongside Basil Radford and Naunton Wayne – as The Policeman in A Girl in a Million 1946 and as Brigadier Falcon (photo 2) in It’s Not Cricket 1949.
