Frederick Piper the English actor was born this day, 23rd September in 1902. He appeared in almost 100 films in a career spanning over 40 years, mostly in a supporting role. Two of his film appearances were alongside Basil Radford and Naunton Wayne in roles similar to their Charters and Caldicott characters - Passport To Pimlico 1949 (Pictured) where he played the part of Garland and It's Not Cricket 1949 in the uncredited role of a Yokel (2nd photo) .
Just a few of the many films that he appeared in include Hitchcock"s The Man Who Knew Too Much 1934 and The 39 Steps 1935, Jamaica Inn 1939 , Sabotage 1936, Will Hay's Where There's A Will 1936 and Oh Mr Porter! 1937, In Which We serve 1942, Champagne Charlie 1944, Johnny Frenchman 1945, Pink String and Sealing Wax 1945, The October Man 1947, Vote for Huggett 1949, Brandy For The Parson 1952, Doctor at Sea 1955, Barnacle Bill 1957, Dunkirk 1958, Dead Lucky 1961, Return of a Stranger 1961 and the British horror film Catacombs in 1965.
He also had a prolific TV career appearing in many productions - just a few of them include: The Mystery of Edwin Drood 1960, 199 Park Lane 1965, Weavers Green 1966 and The Prisoner in 1967 where he played the part of The Ex-Admiral.
He died the day before his 77th birthday on 22nd September 1979.
