![]() Born in Swansea on 8th September 1921, Harry Secombe began singing as a child in local church choirs. His first job was as a clerk although he had considered a career in opera. During World War Two he served in the Army in North Africa and Italy before developing a career in show business and eventually becoming one of Britain's best loved comic entertainers. However on of his first acting roles was in 1949’s Helter Sketer – he played the part of Alf. He died 11th April 2001.
