John Slater, born 22nd August in 1916, was renowned as a character actor and appeared in many films over 3 decades. He also had TV fame as the presenter on children's programme Pinky and Perky in the 1960's and in the police TV series Z Cars from 1967 to 1974.
Two of his many film appearances were alongside Basil Radford and Naunton Wayne - in Millions Like Us 1943 and in 1949's Passport to Pimlico. In Millions Like Us he appeared in an uncredited role as 'the man on the pier', whilst in Passport To Pimlico he played the part of Frank Huggins.
