Active in film over a 22 year period he appeared in dozens of film productions, usually playing relatively minor parts although he was typically cast as a policeman – out of 71 films he appeared in he played a policeman/detective no fewer than 25 times.
He appeared in two films which featured the two Charters and Caldicott character actors – Basil Radford and Naunton Wayne. In 1943 he appeared in Millions Like Us where he played the part of Sam the Soldier (1st photo) who was seen peeling potatoes. He also appeared in Stop Press Girl in 1949 as the Hotel Porter (2nd photo). The two actors were also due to appear in another film alongside Jack Vyvian, namely I See a Dark Stranger, until a dispute with the directors prevented them from appearing.
Other films that Jack Vyvian appeared include the 1934 version of The Man Who Knew Too Much, Sabotage 1936, Under a Cloud 1937, They Drive by Night 1938, as a policeman in two George Formby films - Trouble Brewing 1939 and Spare a Copper 1940, Went the Day Well 1942, The Rake’s Progress 1945 and Madeleine 1950.
He died in 1955.
