The actress Nancy Gabrielle was born 6th July 1917 in London as as Nancy Honor Gabrielle Lankshear. She was most widely known for her work on British TV during the 1960’s and 1970’s but she started her acting career in the 1940’s. One of her first appearances was in Passport to Pimlico in 1949 – she played the part of Mrs Cowan (pictured) – Sydney Tafler’s on-screen wife.
Other films that she appeared in include: She’ll Follow You Anywhere 1971 and The Black Windmill 1974 which starred Michael Caine.
Her TV work included many bit parts including appearances in The Four Seasons of Rosie Carr 1964 (as a tart), The World of Wooster 1966 (as Mrs Penworthy), 1960’s Z Cars (two roles), Villains 1972 (as Mrs Parkin), Doctor Who 1973 (as a prisoner), The Changes 1975 (as Mrs Sallow) and as a dressmaker in a 1981 episode of Bergerac.
She died on July 29, 1998
