Susan Shaw, born 29th August 1929, began her film career in 1946 when she signed with the Rank Organisation and trained at their ‘Charm School’. Her appearance in 1946’s London Town was the start of a successful but relatively short career which ended in the 1960’s due to illness.
In addition to playing starring roles in the Huggett trilogy films she appeared in many classics of the period - in The Huggetts trilogy she played the part of the daughter Susan Huggett but in the prequel to the films, Holiday Camp, she played the part of Patsy Crawford.
For fans of Charters and Caldicott she played the role of Primrose Brown in It’s Not Cricket in 1949 and also the part of Betty in Quartet – The Kite segment alongside George Cole.
Some of the films that she appeared in include It Always Rains on Sunday 1947, London Belongs To Me 1948, My Brother’s Keeper 1948, Train of Events 1949, Waterfront 1950, Pool of London 1951, The Good Die Young 1954, Fire Maidens From Outer Space 1956, Carry On Nurse 1959 and The Switch 1963.
